BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

      Dori Atlantis grew up in both urban Los Angeles and the rural mountains of Central California. She was a founding member of the Feminist Art Program under Judy Chicago at California State University,Fresno. She received both her BFA and MFA from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California.
       Atlantis works in both site-specific installation and mixed-media sculpture. She usually works with natural materials such as branches and adobe.   She teaches art to visually-impaired adults at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles.
      Atlantis has shown throughout the United States.  Some recent installations were a mixed media installation at The Korean Cultural Center,L.A., a collaborative public art installation ( with Karen Frimkess Wolff) at Plummer Park in West Hollywood as well as a bus shelter poster. She also co-curated an exhibit of visually impaired artists at Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale, CA                     Dori Atlantis is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association.
